I'm a coin guy checking in for selfish reasons.

I have a question regarding "U.S. first issues" from the 50's and 60's. I was wondering if its possible to get a ball park idea of what they they might be worth? Someone is selling a group of stamps (along with coins) and I would like to know the general value of these stamps. Let's assume this is common stuff. Any input would be appreciated.

"first issues" could mean a lot of different things to different people. It's not the first US postage stamps because they came out in the 1840s. First issue also refers to the first set of US Revenues, but those came out in the 1860s. So at this point, I'm not really sure what the dealer is referring to.

You will need a better description from the seller (what kind of stamps -- postage stamps, revenues stamps...) and an explanation of what is meant by their usage of "first issues".

Let's say "first day covers" as Wpgl says from the 1950's and 1960's. The seller is a newbie like me, not a dealer.

deadmummy......

It would really depend on which issues and more importantly, what condition they're in.

And.......welcome to the club.
