I do not see an error, just a cut side. Looks like done with scissors, looking at the uneven cut.
I do not know how I managed to get this on the wrong stamp! Sorry.

Can I soak this stamp? I don't know which US stamps are ok to soak in water.

It is a type V number 24 perforated stamp with the perforations trimmed off. You can tell that because there's at least one of the side scratches visible on the right hand side and the left hand side is very much incomplete. It isn't going to matter if you soak it because in the condition that it's in with perforations trimmed off it's virtually worthless. Sorry. Hope this was helpful...Ray
