Okay I asked about shapie pens on Glassine. Many people mentioned these are not the first choice in storage. Really bummed as I thought they were the best and ordered a couple hundred of mixed sizes.
So..Glassine or not for the stamps I need to store and / or ship to friends.

I'm curious as to whether or not glassine envelopes are considered safe for storage (either long or short term) or stamps, or anything for that matter. A quick search found a short page with good info on glassine, stating that it can be made for archival purposes, but does this mean all glassine is archival? Or, if not, how do you tell the difference?

Jay:

Nothing wrong with using glassines. Use the ones you ordered. We just recommended you do not write on the glassine with a Sharpie.

I've used glassines for years without a problem.

I think I would write on glassine with a Sharpie, but only with a piece of other thicker paper in the envelope first. And, of course, I would not put any stamps in the envelope until I was sure the ink was dry.
