Yes, Sir Oliver, the commonality is the design. To get to know this issue, and the differences, it will take understanding the differences in the perfs and the printing method (flat plate vs rotary press).

It's difficult for some of us to ID over the www via an image. You might consider a visit to stampsmarter.com where you'll find some tools to help you learn how to ID....hope this helps, Ray

Hello Sir Oliver,

I read in a Scotts Specialized catalog, that much of the
difference between the three types is found within the triangles.
It is the lines that go horizontally through the triangles.
They either go through at the same size, change inside, or do not go through at all. I am sure that is only one clue.

I do not know much, but I did just read that last week.

stampsmarter.com, is awesome.

You're referring to the wrong stamps with the triangles - see 1894-1898 for those

I did some reading and can now see the difference.

Thank you for a lesson learned.

I should try to be more careful when responding on threads.

I could read and read, however, it is interaction with others which does help me learn.

One obvious difference between these stamps is the date used, either 1938 or 1925. As was discussed in another thread, the stamp used in 1925 a booklet stamp, Scott #554c.

There are a few sites where you can read about the differences. Try here (scrolling down to the 2 cent stamp): http://www.stampsmarter.com/1847_landing.html
