Wondering what your opinions are for this. Seller claims it is a 320 pair with International Vending Company perforations, but ONLY between the stamps--the edges show no evidence of perforation:

According to Belasco's book on Vending and Affixing stamps, International Vending perforations were added only one row at a time...so I suppose this result is theoretically possible. But I've never seen that. Add to that the really late usage (1936) and I assume this is an altered 320 pair without real Vending perforations. Thoughts?

Could also be a bottom pair from a booklet pane with perfs. trimmed
off the top? Seems the seller sells mostly postcards.

Not a credible description by the seller given the use date since IV ended private perfs in 1908. It does not look perf gauge 12 1/2 to me. Top edges are not parallel to the design so I agree with Al: The mailer in 1936 likely used scissors to cut a pair off the bottom of a booklet. The wide top margin is explained by the downward shift of the design since the bottom margin is narrow.

Should be reported to Stamp Smarter.

I have a habit of thinking out of the box..See if this sounds credible.

If a person back in the early 1900"s wanted to create 320 pair with International Vending Company perforations, why would he not send it to himself to benefit from it and not to another person..?

If I did that, I would have the forwarding address and return address as the same...so I would make sure it got back into my hands and not some one else's...I am but no means and American stamp expert.

The reason a person in the 1900s wanted to create 320 pair with International Vending Company perforations is that they didn't. Aside from airmail not being available in the early 1900s, this cover is postmarked 1934.

Personally, I do not know this variety of private perf, but I wouldn't buy any private perf from someone I do not know as being credible or without a cert. There are just too many fakes out there.

Just my point of view.
