Hi Tina,
My collection too has Sri Lankan stamps, I have started 2 separate collections of Sri Lankan and WW collection. But I just started 2 months or so ago with the help of family and friends so I have a long way to go :)

Hi Lily11,

Welcome to the SCF.

I have some Sri Lankan stamps, but I am concentrating on Ceylon (pre Sri Lanka). I like the idea of having a definite end to the set. If you would like to trade some Aussie stamps for Ceylon stamps, stick around for awhile. You will need 50 posts to trade.

This is a little off-topic, but I'm curious about the recent coup on Sri Lanka.

How did it affect you, your family, your job .. ??

Lily:

I collect the stamps of CEYLON, as part of my King George VI reign of the British Empire collection.

I've even got the 5˘ "Apostrophe Flaw" stamp.

Do you just collect Sri Lanka? Or do you include Ceylon, too?

David

To David - yes I do have a few Ceylon stamps handed down to me. As it is I am collecting anything I come across.

To Kirk- well there was no coup as such. we can finally say we are rid of the terrorists who had affected our lives for the past 30 yrs or so. We can finally step out of the house without worrying if we or our kids would return as there were many suicide bombs that went off in buses, shopping areas, etc We as Sri Lankans are one country one nation. If you remember 9/11 we have been having that all of my life time and im glad that my kids will be able to live in peace. The LTTE was the most ruthless terrorists organizations so we are proud that we were able to vanquish them.

Lily:

The Ceylonese stamps of the King George VI reign have a number of perforation, and colour varieties. They are some of the more interesting stamps of the reign to collect.

I find it hard to get Sri Lankan stamps -- getting stamps from Ceylon seems to be easier. The only Sri Lankan stamps that I really encounter are the earliest ones, from about 1972 or so.

When you decide what topical to collect, post a message in the topical collecting section of the chatboard; and we shall discuss it and help you with it.

Cheers!
