I purchased this stamp in August. It has come to my attention that
I should be more aware of whom I buy from. With the recent "Laid Paper" issue and this stamp bought from the same seller, I would enjoy knowing whether or not this was properly identified.

I have read that type 1 "has complete curved lines outside the labels with "U.S. Postage" and "One Cent." The scrolls below the lower label are turned under, forming little balls. The ornaments at top are substantially complete."

I have also been trying to look at and understand the Doporto schematic that one of you folks shared on another thread.

Also curious whether it is a "paid cancel" and if the red I see is part of a cancel?

Edit; possible reperfing?

Yes, Type I Scott 18. Appears to have the secret mark. Scott # 18 comes only from Plate 12 so it will have the mark (dot) in the white border surrounding the medallion at left.

Yes, Scott #18. I agree that it has been reperfed. Probably at left and there also appears to have been quite a bit of work done at top or bottom or both. The black cancel is the right half of an upside down Boston PAID. The red is most likely a Boston CDS.

Possibly position 95L12, based on the Ashbrook/Neinken diagrams.
