Hello:
My name is Richard Stallworth (aka RichardStamps). That was the best screen name I could come up with. I am 48 and have been collecting stamps since childhood in the late 1970s-early 1980s. I started back collecting stamps a few years ago. I guess I'm a lone wolf. There is a club in my city but, the average age of the members is about 88. One member came to meetings using a walker. The first time I saw him I was genuinely scared he was going to fall! So..I though the digital medium might be better fit.
I am a world generalist with a cut off date of 1955. I know I will never finish my collection, but that is part of the fun. I can always find one more stamp that I need on ebay, Hipstamps or a stamp show. I also collect USA and Canada to present day. I hope to learn a lot from the group.
Richard Stallworth

Welcome! Do you collect in Scott Internationals, or some other album or set of albums?
[I had a collection to 1940 in Internationals. More recently, I've been more interested in only a few selected countries and have gone over to using Steiner album pages for those, which I can print as needed)]

HI Paperhistory:
There is a website called Stamp Albums Web that allows you to create your own albums. There are also some people that will print the pages up for you. I use Mr.Richard Simpson. I give him the nations I'm interested in and my cutoff date. He tells me how many pages and the price. A couple times a year I order new countries to build my albums. Right now I have most of Latin America and some British Empire. I have some album questions, but maybe I should post them in the "general philately" section.

Hello, Richard, and welcome to SCF. For me, its basically an online stamp club, and I've learned a lot here. For your album questions, there's a forum called "Philatelic Book, Reference, Supply and Software" that has a lot of posts about albums. That's where I think you'll get the most answers.

Welcome, but you should attend clubs. The older the better because you'll find a wealth of knowledge. `It will take time, but I think it's worth it. DISCLOSURE: I'll be 70 in two months. I've collected from the age of 8 and have enjoyed the hobby along with the people.

Welcome Richard! I also collect Canada and am a new collector. I also collect worldwide. I am pretty much a lone wolf collector too, as the nearest stamp club is 2 hours away. This forum has been a great help and it is has been a great place to connect with other collectors and to learn.

Welcome.

How/why did you pick 1955 as your WW cutoff date?

Hi Richard,
My collecting history is a bit like yours although I am 2 years younger.
I started collecting again in my late 20s, like you went to my local stamp club.
At 29 and being the youngest by many years was very daunting and I felt like "What are you doing here'' this would have put most younger collectors off.
Determined I continued to attend and over time I gained there trust and become apart of the group, eventually holding position of secretary for 8 years.
Over this time the knowledge I gained from the older members was invaluable.
All the best with your colleting.
