Hello all,

I am documenting my collection in an Access database and came across an item that I cannot seem to identify on any site. Just looking to get a rough market value. It's the Scott 741 2c National Parks Grand Canyon stamp but it is only perforated on the top and sides. The bottom is imperforate. It appears to be part of a booklet?? Did the Scott 741 come in this configuration or is it a fake? Thanks for your advice.

Lou

Hi Lou, and a very welcome to this forum. There are several great posts on this forum completely with scans of this series of stamps. And yes, they can come with one side imperforate. The stamps were printed in sheets of 200 and divided into four panes of fifty.

To elaborate a bit more, the press sheets of 200 were not perforated along the printed guide lines for cutting into sheet into panes of 50 for retail sale. Here is a partial reconstruction of stamps which originally came along the guide lines at the center of a press sheet. Your description matches the one with the arrow, and depending on how your was cut, it may show traces of the guideline. It a normal production variety. Value is typically less than a fully-perforated stamp.
