This Item came in a box of Kiloware I got on ebay.

The first page is a block of 1236 Eleanor Roosevelt. I can see that the second page is 1235 Cordell Hull. The third page is stuck fast to the second. Does anyone have any ideas as to what's on the last page?

Also, is there any way to get these apart without damaging them? Will Soaking work?

Thanks,
Jon

They're not particularly rare or expensive, anyway. My advice: soak them and use them for postage.

this would be a nice low cost set to experiment with a home made humidity box if that thing interests you. Here's one that worked well for me. You need a medium tupperware, bowl or box type, either will work. Line the bottom with wet paper towels then find a juice or on- the- rocks type glass that is at least 1/2 inch shorter then the height of the tupperware. place it upside down in the tupperware on top of the wet paper towels. Place the stanps on top pf the glass and seal the tupperware. In 2 to 3 hours check the stamps carefully to see if they will seperate, if not put them back in for another hour or two.

When they do seperate there will be glue residue on the front of blocks 2 and 3.
carefully clean the fronts with a damp paper towel and set the blocks to dry.

I would carefully remove the staple first as I doubt that they came that way and the staple will leave rust stains.

If you try this let us know how it turns out

Richard

Jonnio:

How about an update -- were you able to successfully separate the stamps?

Hi guys,

I haven't gotten to try the humidity box yet, I'm stillin the process of sorting and soaking some of the newer stamps I've gotten in my kiloware purchases. I ended up with a shoebox full of 37 cent flag stamps, and about 400 snowy egrets. Soaking these is a bear compared to older stamps that float right off.

I'll give an update as soon as I attempt the unsticking.

Thanks,
Jon

You could try leaving them in the fridge for a few days if you don't want to soak them. In any case if they're not really valuable there's no harm either way.

As to leaving them in the fridge as a separation method, I believe one freezes them. I have had mixed results with that method but, it may work if they are not bonded too tightly or were not under pressure when they were stuck together. It's probably the easiest to try initially.

I finally got a chance to try the humidity box yesterday. I put it together in the morning before work, and checked it at lunch time.
I gave them a little tug and they were looser, but still hanging together pretty tight.

I put them back in to wait until I got home from work. They were loose enough at this point to see the 3rd block were alliance for progress stamps, and that there was a 4th block of the west Virginia statehood stamps. I had thought that there were just 2 of these stuck to the back of the rest, but those were folded over from the block.

I think they'll have to soak, because there was still to much resistance, and I don't want to tear any.
