over the last week i've received 4 envelopes in the mail and the one from Dianne and Laswabbie have no signs of even being mailed the stamps are in perfect condition,is this a postoffice error or is there some trick to being a stamp collector that I am un-aware of that lets the post office know not to cancel them?

I lot of times the phosphorous tagging on the stamps may let them slip through the automated system without being canceled. The machines read that the envelopes were stamped and that was all that mattered.

Post Offices today are overly-mechanized. Over time, they have laid real people off and replaced them with all manner of machines and computers. A lot of envelopes today seem to miss the cancelling stage, especially if the cancelling machine is overloaded and envelopes get shot through it more than one at a time. If this happens, the procedure used to be that the uncancelled ones were culled and run through the machine again, but I suspect that there is no longer a person to do this, and they go onto the coding station uncancelled.

It's all part of an elaborate sting by the Postal Inspector, the CIA and the NSA. They are hoping that a large number of people will try to reuse the stamps illegally (not that ANYONE on this site not named Bobgggg would do so). In a week or a month, they will swoop down and arrest all the stamp hackers. The PO will collect large fines from each of the criminals and use the funds to offset their losses each year.

I can't tell you how I know this, but let's just say . . . Internet!

Yes, and borrowing the worst from the software and recording industry, the fine won't be based on the actual value of the re-used stamps, but on the total revenue the USPS has lost to UPS, FedEx, and e-mail
