I found these in the back of Grampa's album and can't find them anywhere in the Scotts catalog.
Hopefully it scanned. Just trying to find out some info about these. Have what appears to be the whole set from 1-10 and 10-90 cents.
Thanks!

Once upon a time, money orders were only available in even dollar values.

Say you needed a money order for $18.73. You would get an $18 money order and then they would paste these on it for the 73c.

The only reason I can think of for this is that they weren't too sophisticated when it came to money order machines and didn't think of having the kind that had adjustable numbers.

When I worked for the Post Office, our money order machine was like what they used for credit cards with each number on a dial that you would adjust by pulling down a lever to the correct position, placing in a blank, and running a roller across it. The area where the amount was shown was inked and the roller would force the numbers to imprint on it.

Hi Jay

The "Postal Note" stamp you have scanned is in the Scott's U.S. Specialized Catalogue.

Your 10 cents stamp is Scott # PN10 and has a CV of 20 cents.

Cheers

Bujutsu

Once again, this old dog is learning new tricks. I can't recall ever having seen these is person or in the Specialized. Now I've got another thing to remember to look at.

I have the complete used set. I purchased it a few years ago at a show under a BOB or misc. filed material. I will post a scan over the weekend.
