Hi I'm new to collecting and was wondering how does every one keep their topical s, in which order? by country, or by theme etc.

I try to get a handle on what sub-category or criteria must be met to qualify as fitting within my idea of the topic. I then begin to gather my topicals in a stockbook by the subcategory and see what more may evolve as I begin to accumulate stamps. I may have to expand/split some categories or combine others or possibly even rethink my whole approach. As with the general rules for modern collecting, there is no 'true' way, rather you do what feels good to you. There are some accepted current conventions but, you may choose to accept them or reject them. Its just one of the things that make this such a great hobby. |

I have used blank pages, stockbooks, and vario stock pages. You can arrange them any way you like- country, year of issuance, as you acquire a each new one, Scott #, etc. It really is up to you and your preferences. |

oh if I only had the scott numbers to all my stamps. As I've been going through this collection,i take out the ones that catch my eye and so far I've noticed it's Winnie The Pooh #1 then i'd say Hitler,Pen cancels, imperfs, souviner satmps, flowers, animals, and just weird ones that amuse me and of course Disney |

I have a small collection, so I've been putting my stamps into a stock book with different topics on different pages. I use a ring type binder so I can add more pages if a certain topic needs more room. Once/if my collection gets bigger, I hope to devote an entire album for each topic--at least that is my goal! :) |

You can also make your own album pages using ACID FREE ARCHIVAL Paper, I prefer at least 24 lbs. weight or card stock. There are a few websites that offer free downloadable album pages or you can use an Excell or Word type of program to design your own. It can be very rewarding. |

Lily asked, quite fairly, about current 'conventions' for the presentation of topicals and I think any of the above would qualify and pretty well covers the universe. But, a good group to consult would be the American Topical Association. |
