Hi folks,
I have come across these stamps online but can't seem to find them listed in my catalogue. I suspect they may be fake. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) Liberia, 2000?, "The Rock" / WWF Professional Wrestling, $15. Liberia also apparently issued commemorative stamps of "Mankind", "'Stone Cold' Steve Austin" and "Chyna" around the same time as the ones below.

2) Unknown origin (vendor states "Karelia"), 2000 or 2001?, Mixed professional wrestling stars, "5.00".

3) Turkmenistan, 2000?, "Triple H" / WWF Professional Wrestling, "2000m".

4) Grenada, 2000?, "Kane" / WWF Professional Wrestling, $1.

Thanks.

Here's an example if you feel it's questionable then it is.
The correct term is bogus, a stamp proporting to be from a legal
issuing entity, but is not.
Now I've not confirmed these are bogus issues but the likelihood
they are is great.
Both Turkmenistan & Altay former USSR states are mention as locations
that some illegal bogus stamps are being listed from according to the UPU.
Also, consider the theme of the stamps.

Hope it helps!
Mike

PS I would not buy them, But what are they being sold for?

Some collectors like to collect fake, bogus, faux, and facsimile stamps. If the price is right they might be a nice side collection for this topic, as long as they are listed as such. Good luck on your research. Wrestling could be an interesting topical collection.

All I could find is a place that sells them. No catalogue numbers or info. Sorry

By the way Karelia is adjacent to Finland, while Altay or Altai, is in Russia along the Kazakhstan NE border. So the seller does not know where his products are coming from.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I guess I'll give these a miss and stick to catalogued wrestling issues. The vendor is selling them as "Real, mint postage" which I assume means authentic, but their authenticity in terms of being legal for use is too questionable for me.

Knudson...those are good examples of why many people do not collect the new issues..when it comes to stamps...older is usually better !
