So does this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Scott-2-Use...AOSwgGJYXUTi mean that the gum is original and pristine even though stamp has been cancelled? If so, does this raise the question about how it was attached to a cover, and, if not, how it was cancelled?

It was just an entry error, it was fixed on the website (and possibly on a re-issued cert).
