Hi,
Long time listener, first time caller:- been collecting forever, recently started looking at the value and or rarity. Very unfamiliar with terminology...

Found this 1986 set of 10 Ciskei Edmund Halley (Halley's Comet) stamps with this "blob" on one stamp (on edge of the globe, below left of the "1". Does anyone know what this is or if it has any relevance?

comments much appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome.
It appears to be a printing flaw, a 'one of' oddity. Unless incredibly striking, these type flaws generally do not command much of an increase in value. The term 'error' would not be applied to this stamp by many hobbyists.
Is the spot flat or can you 'feel' it with your finger? It looks like it might be something embedded in the paper (inclusion) as opposed to just a spot of ink.

Thank you, & thanks for your response.

It is visibly raised, and same colour, texture and tone of the sky behind it. Hard to tell if its embedded, it doesn't appear to be indented at the back, but it is visible from the rear side of the stamp.

Thanks again
