Picked this up in the bargain bin,3 sided what should be a 578 I think, wrong color for 604 and it looks like a 578 here in person and measures correctly by the template method, don't know how to value this ? The right side looks like the perf's have been cut into the frame but there not, whats there has folded over,it a clear image with just the slightest hint of perf's on the right.

Booklet stamps are a whole different story dimension wise. Is the paper grain horizontal (booklets) or vertical (sheet stamps)?

Scott 578 is called "coil waste" for a reason. Roll fragments perforated in the vertical direction, too short to strip into coils, were perforated in the horizontal direction and cut into sheets. Attempting to call a Scott 597 coil stamp with damaged perforations a 578 with perforations trimmed top and bottom has no logic behind it, nor would postulating an "alternative fact" making it a 578 trimmed on three sides after having been perforated. Occam's razor will Trump wishful thinking every time. The extra step of perforating and then trimming would create a stamp with minimal top and bottom margins. The simplest explanation is likely the best explanation. The stamp is a damaged Scott 597 coil.
