Going through the inherited collection. I found an envelope with 50 used scotts 301 stamps. Used value is about 25 cents. But some certified go for a few hundred or more. What's the difference? Am I missing something?
Without a specific reference cited, I would guess that the certified (expensive) ones are graded copies with almost perfect centering and fault-free, or they are an unusual shade. They would not be the run-of-the-mill copies.
Thanks John, thats what I was thinking. But it seems one can never truly tell with stamps. There may be a couple that would fall in that category although I don't think I'll be sending any off. I will just tuck them safely back in their envelope and label it fat stack of used 301s lol.
