I purchased a small old collection and found this stamp while going through it. There is a notation on the back in pencil that say 78b but I am not familiar enough with the colors to be sure.

It is certainly in the family, but I can't make a final shade call on a scan. I could only say it is not the shade based on a scan. There are a wide number shades on this issue. My own reference copy is grayer than this scan, but there are a number of gradations on all of these 24¢ shades. Most likely the previous owner was correct.
