Perforated Proofs? What Am I Seeing Here???

I've recently seen what appeared to be some high-value 19th century stamps that were described as "perforated proofs." However, when I try to find information on perforated proofs online and in my Scott catalog, I find no mention of such, only imperf proofs, those on India paper, etc. Examples I've seen would be for Scotts 19 and 20. So, what is a perforated proof and why were they made???

Wait! Think I just answered my own question. I'm a little embarrassed to say that a perforated proof appears to, literally, be just that: a proof that was made and THEN been perforated after production, most likely to resemble the more expensive stamp sold to the public. So, it is a perforated proof, but it WASN'T perforated by the PRINTER during production. Right?

I believe there are perhaps 4 1861 Trial Color Proofs that were made with perf 12, all way above what I could afford.

I would love to see your "Scotts 19s and 20" that you believe, or are labelled already, as "perforated proofs". Lot of experts on this forum in this issue, and if you can post scans, it would help?

"Perforated Proof" is typically a way to say someone tried to fake a rare stamp by perforating a relatively cheap proof, and the seller is desirous of recouping his loss by polishing the poop. Especially on ebay. Just as the term "used proof" is typically a jumbo stamp with perforations trimmed away.
