i received an APS circuit of 15 books from various places on earth...i see an item of great beauty that is very reasonable ..but it does not fit my country or topical collections..perhaps I should start a stockbook of "philatelic gems " does anyone else so something like that ????

You betcha Phil. I just call em eye candy. Even though my main collection is US, as you know I also have a few other countries on the side. But if I ever see something that just looks neat if it is a good buy it will go into the odd box. Many know how this is at shows, go out hunting for that certain stamp but the temptation sometimes is to great.

I would definitely purchase the odd stamp. It could lead to a new collection later on or be the one that got away. What's one more stamp?

But then again, you're going to have to collect all of the other parallel issues too...

No matter, you can do it.

Yes, for me, a stamp that looks great and stuck in my mind and affordable, must be included in my collection! However, I do find most stamps great looking, thus the build up of stamps becomes relentless. The positive thing about it, is that, it's enjoyable as you go along!

Wanted to trim down a set, discarded the others, on finalizing choices, looked at the discards again, couldn't do it, just made the set larger!
