I picked this up of ebay on a whim,It's a well presented 2 page cover/folder with fifteen stamps and explanations of why these were selected by the Postal Commemorative Society,I wanted to add a post to Phils thread and came across it tucked away in a corner.

I do have individual photo's of each stamp If you require close ups.

Wasn't the 4 cent 1901 Pan-American invert deliberately printed as an invert? I seem to recall reading such.

This was supposedly after the post office department heard rumors of the existence of an invert and the embarassment caused by the 1 and 2 cent inverts.

Yes it was a good pick up though a couple of years back now Gvcoll and yes Ellasguy great presentation package it also came with the original price tag and I was lucky to pick it up for 10% of that.
Rohumpy I'm still a novice with U.S. stamp history so I'll let someone else chime in with that information.

Follow up---I found the reference, and yes the post office had the 4 cent Pan-American deliberately printed with the inverted center in response to rumors that the invert had been found by postal customers. Naturally this raises more questions, but those are for a different thread.

This is correct. It was a special printing that was not regularly issued. According to Scott's own editorial guidelines, this stamp should not be assigned a minor catalog number. But as I mentioned before, Scott is very consistent at being inconsistent. When there's big money and big names involved...

Why should the Dag Hammerskold stamp not be considered a special printing? The notation in Scott makes an exception for those inverts which can be proved to have been found before the extra printing. It seems to me that the deliberately printed inverts come under the heading of a special printing.

Did not mean to hijack the thread, but the original image had the Hammerskold invert as a one of a kind stamp, when, IMO, it is not.

Thanks all for your kind comments,
Not to valuable Atlashealth I know but I liked the way it looked and I liked what I saw and with the amount of work that went into it for $10 it was a bargain,
I'll post all of the stamps in the album individually Larry so you can read there statements though you may pick out some fault in some.
