Tom generously sent me a copy of the Encyclopedia of United States Stamps and Stamp Collecting when I reached pillardom.
I learned a few good things from it... I enjoy reading and referring to the book... but most of all...
It got me collecting ALL of the United States.
Thank-you, America!

Tina: Your difficult question for to-day, on American stamps, is: Why is Benjamin Franklin portrayed on the first United States stamp issued in 1847? David |

Oh being quizzed am I? Lets do this it might be fun ok now when I am wrong please correct me.I am going to be honest here,I didn't pay enough attention in high school, like I wish I would have now,so alot, well most of what I have learned in the last 9 months I have learned from all the informative people on here.I am enjoying learning about some history I didn't know.I'm real interested in world war 2.I am learning about countries I never knew existed.Just by reading the thing you all say but I feel dumb sometimes when I want to ask a question but I know it's something I should know at my age,but as we all know,my curiosity gets the best of me and I ask anyways, and I always get an answer I can understand, lets put it this way explained to me at my level. There have been times I just couldn't understand the answers always, but i'm trying ok the answer to Davids question "He was the first postmaster general of THE UNITED STATES" |

I cant figure out how to put it into words the right way without messing up what i'm trying to say.I read why at first it was supposed to be andrew jackson but people decided it would be more acceptable if benjamin franklin was on ther instead.its still super early after I wake up some and get my daily chores and errands done hopefully by then the word will have come to me |

Tina:
No more quizzes. You'll do well with that book. I refer to it a lot when working on United States stamps.
