I have a 1948 Christmas Seal Red Cross stamp. Is it worth anything?

Welcome to Stamp Community Forum!!

I assume it is a US Christmas seal.

In the Scott catalog, it will either be WX140 (perf 12x12.5) or WX141 (perf 12.5). Both are valued at the Scott catalog minimum price of 20c.

Uncomposing,

Your seal is not from the Red Cross, but issued by the American Lung Association.

Now Phil's block WAS issued by the American Red Cross.

Nice seals everyone.

Oops! I meant to say American Lung Association.
Are these potentially worth anything?

Thanks for all your help!

Uncomposing,

Hi again.
These seals are worth only a few cents unless you have varieties that can be worth considerably more.
The particular stamp you show was also issued with different colour words/numbers but these are probably from the same sheet. Seals often had two or more different varieties within the sheet.

But they make a lovely collection. I have thousands, mostly unsorted, and they await my sorting on a rainy day. I look forward to it.
I recommend a side collection strongly. Most interesting.

Philb's block is worth a bit more, especially as it seems it's attached to a Red Cross information sheet !

Londonbus1....You can use them on Christmas mail too

I have around 65 different Christmas seals sheets and probably 60 duplicates of some. I have a full imperf sheet I picked up somewhere. In addition I have many Boys club seals, Easter seals and other different charity sheets. God only knows how many singles I have. They are a nice addition to my collection of stamps.

Thanks very much London (and everyone!). I haven't had much experience with this. You've been very informative.
