Hello everyone,
Spent a good part of today going through my collection. I started collecting when I was six and got over it a little while after. I'm now fifteen and had another look at it, quite a few interesting ones. I have gone through about 200 of my 1000 or so stamps, there was one that really stood out. I don't know what it is, it looks like it has smudged in printing, I do not have a catalog to find what it is, and I don't know much about stamps at all so here's a picture(size reduced):

Also I have a stamp which is like just ink on the envelope, it is an Australian 4c red thing. It has a postmark on top as well but I cannot read it. My camera decided to stop working so I will get a picture later
Here's the pic:

(turns out it was just a postage paid envelope )

EDIT: Also if the first stamp is an error in printing, does anyone here know what it should have been?

EDITEDIT:
Just finished sorting and got pics of a few more interesting ones (and this time the images aren't huge

I found a German Reich stamp I can't identify, I got a program that uses the Scott Catalog, but there are 2 possible matches in that program, neither have pictures. I have been looking everywhere for pics but can't find them. Anybody know?

According to the software it is either a scott #333 from 1924 or scott #C30 from 1926.

Here is another stamp I couldn't identify, it seems like it could be 1 of about 20 stamps that match the description but don't have pictures:

ANOTHER New South Wales one I can't identify:

And these are the other few that really caught my eye:

Most of these probably aren't special but I like them
I got these stamps and about 1600 others for a total of $6 at a local market

Sorry for such a long post
-Nails

Hello! Thanks for joining the forum.

I do not have an answer for you, but someone here likely will or
at least point you in the correct direction.

Good Collecting!

Hi Nails,
First, let me welcome you to the group. You will find answers to all your questions here.
Where are you from?

So to the Robin redbreast. Isn't it sweet?
No, not an error. Your scan makes it look a little more blurred than it actually is but it is not a good print from Royal Mail.
The Stamp [SG#2572] was issued in Booklet form only, Self-Adhesive. The design was from a 1995 Christmas Issue that was in horizontal format and the smaller version did not come out too well. I remember comment about this at the time of issue [October 2005].
I have just checked my booklets for confirmation.

Nice stamp though.
Come back and post often and don't forget to ask for help.

Looking forward to seeing the Australian 'stamp' when your camera is working.

Londonbus1.....Sadly, always working

Oh that is so cool! I didn't even notice that, just looked like a smudge to me . I will be able to upload a picture of the other one tomorrow with any other ones I find interesting. Also I have a few Queen Elizabeth II stamps that have holes in the middle forming letters, eg. one of them has N8 with other letters going over the edge of the stamp. What are these for?

Nails,
Those QEII stamps are probaly "perfins". Stamps that have been perforated with letters or a symbol. This was done by private companies to help insure their stamps were not being stolen & used for personal coorespondance.

Nails,

Your stamps after the Great Britain stamp...

Australia cut square (you are correct), will not be listed in Scott

Germany #333, the other stamp you mentioned (#C30) shows a carrier pigeon flying downwards and has the denomination in both upper corners

New South Wales (2p) is Scott design A39, which means it could be #99, 103, 111, or 123. You will need to determine the watermark and measure the perforation to make the final ID. I cannot do that from the scan.

New South Wales (1p) is Scott design A38, which means it could be #98, 110, or 122. Same note as above.

Ireland ("Sword of Light") is Scott design A1, which means is could be #72, 113, or 226. If the stamp design measures 17x20.5mm, then it is #226. Otherwise, to distinguish between 72 and 113, you will need to check the watermark, which means you will have to soak it off paper.

Italy #C13, showing Pegasys.

Australia revenue stamp, this will not be listed in Scott.

Romania #RA15, postal tax stamp showing "Charity".

Enjoy your stamps. It's a great buy (in terms of enjoyment) for just $6!

Kim

Thank you very much! I'm still working out how to identify stamps properly so you've helped me a lot.
