These are the largest stamps I have ever seen. They are both the same size and I have placed a common U.S. stamp on one of them for comparison.

Does anyone know of any bigger ones?

Steve

I'm not sure if this one is larger or smaller - US Scott R133 - the Large Persian Rug. It has always been one of my favorite stamps. This one was sold as part of the Joyce collection in Boston in 1991, an auction I attended. I'll see if I can find the auction catalog to get a better picture of it.

The actual size of the engraved portion of these stamps is listed as 52x100mm, or about 2-1/8 x 4". There were 400 copies of this stamp printed, of which 210 were issued, and 76 were known to survive. This is one of the finest. 1997 catalog value $12,500.

That's a nice stamp. I can see why they call it a Persian rug.

I just measured the ones I posted.
They are 104mm (4 inches) x 69mm (2 3/4 inches)

I found some cigar taxpaid revenue stamps I bought about 10 years ago.
They were still in the stiff cardboard mailer I received them in.
They don't fit well in an album, which is why they are not too popular with collectors.
Yet they are beautifully engraved. The 100 cigars is too big for my scanner.
Here is one of the 1878 series 50 cigars stamp (#TC110b)

Click on the picture to see how long these tax stamps are, long enough to wrap around a bundle of 50 cigars.
It measures 33.97 cm x 3.81 cm = 129.42 cm2.

This stamp bears a portrait of the Great Statesman and Senator from Kentucky Henry Clay, known as "The Great Compromiser."
On the left is a closeup of the portrait and on the right is an actual photograph of Clay, probably taken close to his death in 1852.

Those are great looking pieces from Down Under. I've always liked stamps on stamps.
