Hi Tina.....

Do you mean......which have the stamps worth the most ? Or, which have the stamps with the highest face value ?

Seems that it would be pretty hard to beat the German face values during the "inflationary era".

How about Zimbabwe? Prior to them revaluing the currency - in July 2008 a local postage stamp was $250,000,000 and at the start of this year before yet another revaluation, $1,000,000,000. No wonder they needed such large notes (In 1980 it was 5 cents).

While we await Tina's clarification, if we continue to assume she means the highest face denomination POSTAGE stamp, the highest value I know of is the 500 quadrillion (500,000,000,000,000,000) pengo stamp from Hungary. It is Scott #774 shown below.

I know that it says "billio" on the stamp -- but the number convention used in Europe at that time, billion was the equivalent of the US "trillion". The correct Central Europe vs US equivalents at that time were:

Europe -- US
million -- million
milliard -- billion
billion -- trillion

It beats the German inflationary stamps. But the way things are going in Zimbabwe...

Iceland always seems to sell well on ebay I noticed.
Small country, not many stamps issued, lots of people want them.

Sometimes it seems to depend on where they are being sold also. Europeans generally like certain countries. Canadians like Canada, Americans like USA, British folk like Great Britain and British Commonwealth, etc.

I think China is in demand as it is kind of new on the stamp markets? Maybe wrong here.

We've discussed the China issue before here, their is up because their citizens can no afford to be stamp collectors more & more having the discretionary income and time to do it!
