i do not really remember when I purchased my schermack but my eyes hurt looking at them sometimes.
my eyes are not what they used to be but I think I found a 534b.
too bad it is not just an imperf.

i would appreciate any opinion to see if this may be the mentioned stamp.

i hope it is ok to ask about my stamps.
there just seems so many question that I would like to know about my collection.

i still get a bit upset about the stamps that I had to sell years before.

I can't tell from the resolution of your pic. You will need to provide a much higher resolution scan so we can examine the usual areas (hairline at forehead, dots on nose and upper lip, toga/button, left ribbon end, left "2").

I'm sure you already know, but for the benefit of some others -- your stamp appears to have a Schermack Type III perforation on the left. This stamp is far more common than the simple imperforate. I don't have current catalog, but probably a little under $100.

i know that this is a schermack
i have a hard time to identify these stamps.
my eyes are not what they used to be.

i have some others 2 cent stamps this type but they are hard to see even with magnification.
i guess that is why stamp collecting is fun and exciting.

A much larger scan would be needed to ID the stamp

You wouldn't need to keep the entire stamp in the scan. You could just crop it to show approximately the left half and get it as large as you can while still maintaining some resolution and meeting the file-size limitation of the board.

I believe this is a Type VI (Scott 534A). The 2 defining features of the Type VII are the additional shading dots at the top of the head and the rows of dots on the upper lip. The Type VII has 4 horizontal rows of 3 dots above the upper lip.
EDIT added images

Russ, the gap on the left "2" isn't as wide as a Type VI, though, IMO.
Here's a used 534A I have, look at the huge gap in the left "2". The color of the stamp that Dan has posted is similar to the 534B I have:

534A-

534B-

The "2" on Dan's stamp is complete, but not nearly as wide as a t-VI (my 534A), and we can't tell from his scan the rest. But it still could be a 534B, IMO....thanks, Ray

The offset printing produces greater variance in the stamps than with the engraved issues. The stamp is not Type IV, Va or VII. The Type V does not have any distinguishing features but the Left "2" is very rarely complete as the example above.
