For those whom are Scouting stamp topical collectors, Merit Badge Counselors, or affiliated with Boy Scouts will be glad to hear that the USPS has a $0.44 Scouting stamp scheduled for release in the summer of 2010. I just read this in the recent issue of Linn's last night. This may be a way to draw more interest to stamp collecting.

As a Canadian Rover Knight Scout, and a former BSA Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner, I'll be ordering a sheet of those stamps.

I picked up a sheet yesterday of the new Scouting stamps. I do like the design, too bad there was not any fancy selvage though.

So did I stamperdude. On the stamp the word "scouting" appears. Not Boy Scouts. According to Linn's, the usps says it does not honor specific groups. However there are several past stamps that specifically say Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Clearly, this stamp is intended to honor the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Boy Scouts in 1910.

The usps just doesn't make sense on this. Many commemoratives honor specific groups and people.

Aye, the stamp is wishy washy all round (though as a past boy scout I do appreciate the BSA). The stamp isn't much more than a cartoon. It seems childish and out of proportion. The silhouette shows a scout bringing binoculars to their eyes, but the position of the shoulders and arms is all wrong. Just try holding your upper arms parallel to the ground, and then inclining your forearms toward your head, and you will know what I mean.

The BSA: a great organization (unless you are gay, atheist, or agnostic).
