These are usually hard to find in good shape, because most were stuck on the dashboards of cars. Note that this particular one was the one in effect when the US was drawn into WWII.

These have the gum on the printed side, right? Am I thinking of the right stamps?

All except for 1 had gum on the face.

Nice! I've got a couple of those tucked away in a stock book. I'll need to check and see if they are all the same denomination.

You will find these stamps under the RV section of U.S. Revenues. depending on which ones you have the value in good used condition could range up to $25.00. Though that would be the exception. The example you show is RV1 perf 11 issued in 1942, valued at $0.50.

Even the side of the stamp that was supposed to contain vehicle information is interesting given the fine US Internal Revenue design printed within the stamp:

In 1942 the average price of a car was $950. A $5 tax stamp had about a $79 buying power in 2011 dollars. That was a pricey tax!
