Ziggy:

For the benefit of non-Americans, could you please explain what OPA stands for and what it was?

David

OPA stands for Office of Price Administration. I believe they were responsible for the food coupons/rationing during WWII, or something like that.

Sorry, I didn't notice Richard was online. I'm sure he will provide a much more thorough and accurate answer than I did.

the OPA was responsible during WWII for rationing everything from food and fuel to things like shoes and tires. I have a full set of catalogs on all the OPA tokens, stamps, reciepts, etc. but haven't had time yet to look these up other than the "C" classification is a semi official stamp allowing the carrier to travel up to 875 miles per month

I would say this is still a Cinderella. I guess it depends on one's definition of a Cinderella which varies greatly from collector to collector, dealer to dealer and auction to auction.

Maybe I will start a new thread and ask the question.

Londonbus1....and I am still amazed at all the nice Cindy's Ziggy gets from his club

I think the OPA also put a ceiling on wages during the war. I have heard that mentioned in many Jack Benny radio shows.
