i must have goofed I thought I was sending a jpg image to this post. perhaps I will get some help on it...the only reason I have this cover to be honest is I won a prize of 50 dollars in merchandise at a cover show. To back up a bit..i was visiting my Dad in Florida and found the book Endurance by Ernest Shackleton at a flea market..i was amazed at the human endurance of Shackleton...his family motto "Fortitudine Vincimus" by endurance we conquer..but I think about the crew he had to leave behind to live on oily penquin meat for months...thats endurance...i have the cover in my file as a jpg. and can browse it..i will try the camera again and see if it comes over..if so more on the cover later !

Here is the tutorial for Uploading Images. It assumes that you have already clicked the "Reply to Topic" link. You can use the "Preview" button to check that you have the image correct before hitting "Post New Reply" button.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have, we are dying to see your pictures!

Hi philb,

Yes, spaces in the filename can cause a problem. Chances are that your scans are too big as well. To get started try scanning a stamp-sized area at the 200 or 300 dpi resolution setting and be sure to save the file in jpg format.

Try it and see. Also you might be able to reduce the "quality" setting of the jpg file format which can reduce the size of the file without noticeable effect on the image quality. Another work-around is that you can scan the stamp and cancellation and any marking or cachets in additional smaller higher resolution scans, and add these close-up pictures to your post along with the lower resolution scan of the whole cover.

Looks like you got it!

To have it show up directly in the post, you just need to do a little editing:

Now you have this in your post:

Image: kids.JPG[br]73.16 KB

you need to change it to this

Well there it is , you guys let me sink or swim...mabe 15 to 18 trys..finally hit new settings and it worked ! this cover honors the 55th anniversary of Shackletons rescue..he left most of his crew on Elephant island and set out in an open boat for I believe South Island in the South Orkneys..he landed on the wrong side of the island and walked accross a mountain range to reach a whaling or coaling station...imagine when he walked in and said I am Ernest Shackleton...he did not lose one of his crew...

Awesome! Well done! Very interesting cover!

I just cropped the image a little bit to remove the white space:
