Hello,

I have a few more stamps I am trying to figure out a worth and an ID if possible. I do not think they are of much value, but I would like to find out what I have. These are all from my grandfather and I do not really know anything about them yet and I am interested.

Any info is much aprecciated.
Thanks

Since no one else has taken a stab at these, I'll take my guesses...

I assume you flipped the image of the top stamp; if not, maybe you can retire off of it.

I'm guessing the "stock transfer" overprint is either RD2 (if it perfs 11), which is catalog minimum for both mint and used in 2008, or RD25 (if it perfs at 10), which would be $2.75 mint and .30 used.

I think the one-cent stamp is R228, which is a twenty-center, used (.25 if mint). I have no idea if the "MW & Co" is attractive to specialist collectors. Perhaps it is Montgomery Ward and Co, which was a huge business started in Chicago. Perhaps not.

If the 20-cent stamp is perf. 11, then it is probably R235, which is .75 mint and .25 used. If it is perf. 10, it could be R256, which is about $5.50 mint, $4.50 used. If it is perf. 11 across the top and perf. 10 down the sides, then it could be R263, which is $15.00 mint and $8.25 used (in 2008). Not sure if the funny stuff on the 20-cent stamp is on the face, or just on the image?

Hope this helps. (Hope its correct.)

Collin

I think that "MW" standing for Montgomery Wards is a safe guess. I do like the different stock transfer stamps that I've added to my revenues. It appears that you have a nice beginning to a collection.

An interesting side note about these. There are 2 types. Look at the periods on either side of "cents". Type 1 has no dot inside of the period. Type 2 has a dot. Scott does not list that there are 2 types. Most of these are very common regardless of which type. These are commonly refered to as "Reds".
