Hey its a new year and I was just wondering what everyone's New Years resolutions was regarding their collections? I know that one of my resolutions is to become more specialized in my collecting in certain areas, and to also clear out some of my duplicates ! So just wondering what directions others plan to go in this year

Ha! Easier said than done. Unless, like Will Rogers, you've never met a stamp you didn't like. Then I guess it would be easy.

To sort out my stamp Drawers. I can no longer get anything in there at all.
Thousands of stamps must be sorted so it means less or no buying and more selling/exchanging.

Also, to sort out the bedroom cupboard and the Kiloware within !

Londonbus1....What did Perry Como once sing.....

My collection now is to complete world stamps album, comprising of at least three large stamps from each of the 194 countries listed in Time-Life Atlas year 2007

took me the whole half year of 2009 to arrive at this type thread. Having realized that there are just too many stamps flying and landing all over the world in airplanes

Now 75 countries and counting!

(1) To get caught up on everything, ASAP, including the stamps in the three stockbooks I've been putting off doing anything with, as well as that huge accumulation of US precancels sitting in the box on top of my hobbies bookcase.

(2) To figure out what to do with all of those mint Canada that I once tried to flog here to no interest. Maybe use them for postage, or perhaps change the thread to "Trade", maybe?

(3) To continue trying to get matching binders for my collection instead of the hodge-podge of Harris binders they're currently in. Luckily, I now have three 'Standard' binders...all I really need is three more...

(4) To also get caught up on my coin collection, and rearrange my hockey card collection chronologically (they're out of order, here, there and everywhere inside of thirty-odd binders, totally out of sequence), but those two items are another story totally.

I refuse to make a New Year's resolution because I know I would just be lying to myself and to you guys. I'd like to save my allotment of lies for something more important.

I do see a common thread here, though. Almost everyone wants to "clean up" or "catalog" or otherwise make sense out of a mass accumulation.

I resolve not to purchase any stamps from Canada Post nor the USPS in 2010. I shall purchase all I need from my employer (a stamp dealer, without any taxes.

I hope you do the same.

David

You know David, me working for a stamp dealer would be like me working at a pizza palace - I'd still owe them at the end of every week. I don't know how you do it!
