If this has been discussed before, I apologize.

Quote:
The World Association for the Development of Philately (WADP) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU) jointly conceived and developed the WADP Numbering System - WNS, which was launched on 1 January 2002.

This is a quote from the home page of a website discussed in the latest Linn's. I'm not really impressed by the numbering system so much as the database of every legitimate (?) stamp produced worldwide. You can download pictures of each stamp for your personal use.

Check out the site - I think you will find it a useful addition to your favorites list.

Hi there.
If that's a link to the site, it's not working. At least not for me. Can you post it again please and thank you. It looks interesting.
Have a good day.

This would be a useful tool for the topical collector. There is a drop-down box for themes, and then a second drop-down for subthemes. So "philately | stamps on stamps" gives 29 pages of results at ten results per page. Another post mentioned that there aren't any stamps issued before 2002; I didn't look hard enough to verify that, but the results I saw fit that time frame.

Thanks laswabbie, good info.

The link does work but then you have to click on 'Home' on that page to get to the index.

It does come up and look like a mistake has been made at first.

===================
The listing starts at year 2002 onwards.
Stamp Info includes :
Picture
Date of Issue
Country of issue
What the stamp is about

It is a database of the basic designs and info of legal stamps issued since 2002.

The info about the stamp's topic is sometimes very basic. Example, some of the Canada 'flag over' stamps just say 'Canadian Flag' and not what the picture behind is of. Other stamp's info is pretty good.

Coils, imperfs, varieties, errors, minisheets, souvenir sheets, self adhesives versus regular sheet stamps, etc, etc are NOT shown.

But it is great to have access to a colour picture of the basic stamp design and some info about it. Won't replace a good catalogue for detailed information but still very useful.
