Lovely revenue stamps. The act for the potato tax was never enforced, and later rescinded. I handled a few short sets (up to the 7.5 lbs.) but I've never seen the whole set.
Thank-you for posting these and other interesting United States revenue stamps.

They are really lovely stamps. Everytime I see a revenue stamp I want to collect them. I just can't add another topic/subject to my collections. It's getting out of hand as it is. hehehe! |

So potatoes were taxed and I'm not going to question as govt says it all. Poor idaho--- Now what about Corn did it get nailed or was there a proposed tax for it or other seemingly strange items????
Keep posting away as this is a great history lesson. |
