Agreed! Everything I know I basically learned from other collectors who were kind enough to share their knowledge and experience. If it weren't for all you other collectors out there, I would basically know nothing about stamps.

The absolute BEST benefit to the SCF is the wide range of information available to everyone - from the 13 year old newbie to geezer collectors like me.

I don't want anyone to get the big head, but I've learned a lot from people like Phil, Bob of the g's, Kim, Tom T and folks like them.

Thanks to all of you!

Thank you ALL!

Yes, I couldn't agree more. I lurked here off and on for a long time, but I've paid much closer attention since joining. I have to drive a loooooong way to a philatelic society or dealer, so you guys are invaluable. The internet itself has a lot of information, but the dynamic exchange of a group like this can't be beat.

I've found that hobbyists overall are often a pretty good group of people, but stamp collectors are tops.

I have belonged to a stamp club for 30 some years..i shudder to think of the knowledge that is lost forever...so many that passed on over those years and took so much stored knowledge with them !! They shared much..the pain staking presentations they gave at meetings....

I agree with all. This is a great forum. I remember in the olden days, pre-internet, getting info was a real hassle. You had to go to libraries, buy innumerable books, and still had no guarantee that you would find what you were looking for.

Now, all you have to do is either ask here, or google. Amazing transformation of the access to information.

Thank all of you here for the nuggets of wisdom, and the info available with just a few keystrokes.

As one more aside, it never ceases to amaze me that however esoteric the information needed, someone has it at their fingertips.

If info is needed on the local overprints made by the 1892 provisional government of lower Slobovia, someone knows.

Y'all remind me of a comment I once saw on an Instructor Evaluation prepared by a student that just completed Intro to Computers...

The student wrote, "I don't know anything about computers and the teacher was very helpful."

Like so many, I had a grandfather that did a lot for me when I was a youngster...about 70 years ago! And the computer wasn't even invented then! But this forum has been almost a daily source of information of nearly every aspect of the hobby. What fun we have with our little pieces of paper.

Every time I learn, or relearn, something here, which is every day, it opens up a whole new part of the world for me that I hadn't known of before. Other people's perspective on the same problem or topic is invaluable to be able to gain a fuller understanding of the topic. Sharing and connecting and supporting is as important as (sometimes more) the stamps sometimes.

As khj said, I too appreciate the opportunity to be able to learn from so many.

Thank You.

it is always nice to share a common interest with fellow collectors who have a passion for the field and the material. much more fun than doing it yourself
