My First Day In Stamp Collecting!

Hello eveyone. You can call me Source or Code it does not matter. Anyway the reason I am here is because yesterday I recieved a collection of stamps. I collect paper money and coin from other countries and always thought about collecting stamps but never did so. I thought the stamps would go well with collecting the money, since there are so many stamps. I think about 300 or so. I did some research this morning and a large number of the stamps are from 1928-1939. Since reading I have learned that many of them are damaged, since many were peeled off the envolpe. some are still on the envelope...they just cut that corner out and put it in with the rest of the stamp collection. All of these were in a check box.I do not wish to sell any of them but since I have them and like them very much, I might as well start that stamp collection that I have only thought about doing.

Soon I will get some supplies and carefully go through them...finding out the history of each stamp. I will post pictures and hopefully you guys/gals can help know more about stamp collecting

The stamps you have that have been cut from the envelopes are referred to as "on piece" or "on paper." Sometimes it's ok to soak them off, but sometimes stamps should be left on piece for post mark reasons, particularly earlier stamps. Post some pics once you have them sorted out before doing anything.
