Nice Netherland Stamp

I found this mixed in with some older, more common stamps from the Netherlands. I will need to get to the library and check out what year this came from. It's so pale and hard to read, but appears to be in pretty good condition. Take a peak.

Dog, I asked my wife what it says...its a generic revenue stamp usually put on documents !!

Fantastic, thanks for the information. I have seen some US stamps for documents like deeds etc. I still think it's a nice find.

there are those who collect ONLY revenue stamps, and the prices are a surprise!

I thought I had one of those like stampdog and philb shared but it seems mine is a tad newer (just a guess). I don't know much about revenue stamps but in looking at the design I can assume the date is supposed to be hand written with a signature applied. Either there were varying rules or the rules were loosely applied as both of the first two don't appear to be dated. It's possible that stampdog's was but maybe the ink has faded, hard to tell. I also notice philb's has some extra purple cancelling? Anyway, here's mine:

Yes yours is much darker than mine. I didn't see any sign that there was any other writing or numbers on my stamp.
