That was already done. I set it up with StampWants when it was first offered and every week StampWants would go to ebay and download the new listings. I just never went over them in StampWants so there are, for example, books that show they will ship outside the USA at stamp prices, when I don't even offer to ship books outside the USA.

Getting your items up on bidStart (formerly StampWants... and it would help me guys if we could try to call it bidStart or else we'll end up confusing new people entirely) is pretty easy. We offer several ways to do it.

Of course there's the manual process but that's only useful if you're posting a few items. The bulk uploader is pretty easy as well. Just set up a simple spreadsheet and away you go. It even makes linking to photos simple enough.

For those who are interested, one of our most popular features is the ebay import/sync feature. If you're on ebay now and want to just save time by copying over your listings then once you have a store with us you can choose Import and your items will be copied over just as they exist on ebay including shipping fees, etc.

If you want to stay on ebay and just want to try out bidStart then you choose the Sync option and all of your items will be copied over and bidStart will continue to monitor the listing on ebay. If you change a price on ebay it'll change on bidStart. If you remove an item on ebay it'll be removed from bidStart. The only catch is that there is a small delay as we're limited to how often we can do updates with ebay.

Note that by the end of this month the delay will be dramatically reduced as we've instituted a new design that allows us to update far more often and that means faster importing and updating.

Thanks,

Rich Heimlich
Director of Marketing

Here's another reason to abandon ebay:
http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/201004.shtml

ebay sure likes to use the carrot and stick approach to their sellers, but they favor the stick too much.

Try Delcampe, it's pretty good (and so much cheaper!). Many Europeans have found a new home there and Americans and others are joining in rapidly. Will

My wife just made our first purchase on DelCampe..she was chasing a couple of souvineer sheets on another site and just kept getting bid up..way over scott catalog..she got the same sheets from a Spanish dealer (Domfil?) and even with shipping saved quite a bit over the bidding war !!

I've been selling on ebay for some time now and doing well enough. My discovery however came down to this formula:

1. Keep for input costs to the bare minimum. For me that means buying auction lots and breaking them down into sensible / attractive small lots

2. Watch the ebb and flow of buying interest and level of activity

3. Use the promos on ebay

4. Use very good but highly discounted postage for shipping

5. Strive continually for 100% positive feedback

6. Always give my customer a little more than they paid for

7. Go after repeat business

ebay wouldn't work for me if I didn't follow this routine very carefully.

Another srike against ebay, don't try selling German Third Reich material if you click "shipping worldwide". They just might remove your listing. I just had Germany Scott B102 just pulled for being hateful and discrimatory. Please...it's a philatelic item and can be shipped to Germany.
