Gussy, observe the postage and handling charges on those sheets...they vary greatly..if you try to stick with a few dealers..they may combine postage for you..it adds up !!

Believe me - no matter how much money you have, there are more stamps and other philatelic items out there than you can ever afford!

I don't want to be preachy, but I recommend that you make a specific want list and set a budget and stick with it. When I first started collecting, I got myself into trouble trying to buy everything at once! Even after all these years I have the urge to go wild at stamp shows, on ebay. etc!

No, No cave, nr-notrare. I have bought on ebay since '99 but have been leary due to back then someone from "within" the site got a hold of our Paypal account #-- which can be really scarey. Thank the Lord that we saw that happening and got on it right away! A few months ago I sold for the first time some items. I just never had been on the stamp SHEETS site before. I was so amazed and wanted every other sheet I saw which could add up to a lot!
You're right Phil, it could be easy to want to buy everything , especially if it were at a great price. I controlled myself and spent $6.95 with $3.00 shipping for a sheet of US Ballet stamps. Yes, the shipping gets ya--I saw some with outrageous shipping charges! To combine is divine (shipping).
I then went on the www.shop.usps.com site (the cave) to order my catalog. I wanted to order several things from them, but controlled myself. Thank goodness the hubby has the charge card in his wallet!

Thanks!

Greg, my spending has been pretty consistant over the last 20 years,my son in law spends more on Marlboros in 2 weeks than I spend on stamps in a month...but I am prepared if a real windfall appears..this has only happened 2 or 3 times in 20 years..but if I could swoop up a truck full of stamps cheap I will go out in the yard with the shovel and dig up the funds !!

Phil,
Does X mark the spot in your yard? I'll be right over, if it does.

I agree Phil! When my wife mentions my collection I mention the fact that I could be sitting in a bar 3 or 4 night a week, smoking, drinking and throwing away money on wild women. That usually gets her quiet for a bit - until I hook up my boat and go fishing,

Gussyboy1: Do an ebay search for (country) face as in Canada face. You stand a good chance of picking up mint at or below face value
