I've finally finished reading those old issues of Canadian Stamp Collector. I've enjoyed several of the old advertisements and news items, such as this one about U.S. Airmail from July 1921.

Great stuff Kirk !
Post a few more snippets.
I am a sucker for Stamp magazines, and the old ones make for entertaining reading.

Thanks for showing us.

I have a large portion of my bedroom cupboard filled with Stamp magazines I cannot throw away. I refer to them often.

The clothes went long ago !

Londonbus1......I'll be wearing stamp pics soon !

Here's another way in which things have changed so dramatically. They were so excited about 38,000+ miles of travel at 90 mph. Today airline planes travel well over a million miles at over 350 mph in some cases.

Heck, in some areas of the U.S. even cars average 90 mph.

Love the Philatector! Anyone know what principle it claimed to exploit to effortlessly detect watermarks?

I like that too, CJD.

For me, the "greatest philatelic difficulty" is affording stamps, not seeing watermarks

Cool, rod222.

I predict you're going to have a personal message from David Giles regarding that Stamp Digest magazine.

Hi Cjd,
AFAIK the box contains revolving discs of colours that when
given their correct matrix, highlights the wmk.
They were still for sale in Australia up until the 1980's
albeit a cheaper plastic box.
I collect Travancore as a passion, and watermark detection is a right pain in the glutinous, I have yet to find a good wmk detector
and was advised against the super expensive SG model.
I am still looking.

David Giles is welcome to that mag, it is severely damaged by previous owners ripping out bits, and it is not Canada centric, rather an eclectic group of post stories from around the world.
He would need to be quick, before it goes in the attic for storage.
