They still have valve, however they are worth less then a postally used copies. Anything from China will grow in value regardless, so don't be concerned. |

Hi Tina.....
CTO's from China are sometimes the only way to acquire those issues. Mint and used are worth more in almost all cases.....but the CTO's you mention are definitely worth keeping. |

Tina.....
Sounds like a great bunch of stamps.....If they were mine, I'd hold on to them.......the stamp market is really just beginning to open up for US sellers to sell in China. When it does open the hobby will see a massive jump in buyers. There are millions of collectors in China.

Don't be concerned with the value of a CTO stamp. If you like it keep it. If you come across a mint or postally used copy you can always change it. I personally don't mind CTO's because you might not be able to get them any other way and the cancellation usually does not mess up the stamp design. |

If they were mine.....I'd hold on to them.........the whole country of China might be opened up relatively soon, when that happens, it will be a new market for US sellers......while we're waiting, I'd be looking for used ones to go with the ones you have.
Having all possible types of any issue.....mint, used, CTO, on cover.......insures that you will have something of value if that issue ever jumps in value. |

Bobgggg....
I imagine shows near San Fransisco would see a high number of collectors of Chinese material also. The auction catalogs I've received from Hong Kong make me feel that Chinese material could have the highest number of collectors actively collecting of all areas.......and the material is receiving higher & higher bids over the past few years. It would not surprise me to see a huge jump in values and numbers of collectors over the next few decades..........It is an area of the hobby that has been neglected by many Europeans and Americans simply because the written language is so difficult (for most of us) to understand.
Page 19 of the Feb 15th issue of Linns has an article about record prices for some Chinese material........someone with a hard copy could post it......we can't capture images off the website.
