As part of my interest in the KGVI Reign, I enjoy the social history of our Empire. Even though there was a depression and a war during the reign, people did get out and have fun!
From the same company that brought you the Coronation Labels, here are the Canadian National Exhibition Labels for the 1937 CNE, as always, help in Toronto, Ontario.
The envelope please...

The insert, front page...

The inside...

The back cover...

And now for the labels... some of them. There are 42 in the set and I have 41. There is no evidence that one was affixed to the front of the envelope.
The labels measure 5 cm X 3.5 cm, so they sre a wee bit bigger than the Coronation Labels. For all you Torontonians... a look at your city 73 years ago...

You enter the CNE, walking through Princes' Gate. Some people mispronounce the name as "Princess Gate", but it was opened by two Princes in 1978, thus the name. On the 100th anniversary of the CNE (1878-1978)
Canada Post issued a stamp with the Princes' Gate on it.

Everybody loves the midway! Look at that wooden rollercoaster, eh?

A tour of Toronto... old (then the current) City Hall.

Toronto is the Capital City of Ontario, and this is our Provincial Parliament Buildings... Queen's Park.

You know my penchant for marginal markings...
And last but not least....

Why not spend a night at the Royal York Hotel? Opened June 11, 1929, and built by the Canadian Pacific Railway, it was (and for many years) the largest hotel in the British Empire. There is a Royal Suite where Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II stays when visiting Toronto, and Their Majesties King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, stayed there during the 1939 Royal Tour.
It was the tallest building in the British Empire, for one year. Then, down the street, this building opened, becoming the tallest building in the British Empire:

The Bank of Commerce Building.
Does anybody have one of these labels on a cover?
Enjoy!
