Most of the issues 1c to 5c each, Mint unhinged pre decimal Australian are around 8c each, that is, until you reach what looks like to me SG358a 10 shilling Matthew Flinders and "The Investigator" (on white paper), and the very desirable One Pound "Bass and Whaleboat", very desirable pieces of paper. I am jealous, if you wish to dispose of one of the One Pound issues please come knocking I would isolate those three stamps and put them in mounts. They may need a careful tidy up. I cannot spot anything of note with the rest. |

Hello Braveheart, welcome to the forum!
If you can scan the stamps at 100 dpi's or less the picture size would load faster. Maybe it is just me with my slow internet connection (I want to see your stamps!) but the pictures only load about 1/3 and then stop. Frustrating.
Rod should have mentioned that you need 50 quality posts on here (which happens pretty fast when you are using this forum) in order to trade, buy or sell or even email other people on the forum.
Show us more of your stamps! I am enjoying seeing them. (Wish I could see more).
Doug (slightly behind the times but still having fun!) |

Thanks for your input Rod222...
As I said in the "Introduce yourself" thread, I collected stamps a long time ago, and found my old album in a box.
I really have no knowledge on stamp collecting and was only curius as to what I had in the Album.
Hi Puzzler
I do have a few British Commenwealth stamps that I could scan and put up, and if I do I will try and reduce the image size ..
I am not trying to sell trade or buy stamps, I just wanted to find out what real Stamp collectors thought of my Childhood collection.... I will post some more for you Puzzler..

This leaves me a little confused, I cannot load an image above 90Kb The Forum will not allow it. How Braveheart managed to load a scan 845Kb is beyond me.

He is hosting the pics on tinypic.com. I've seen others use photobucket also with good success.
Just keep the resolution down to 100 dpi or below and it is no problems getting a pic down to the 90KB. That resolution is all you need for internet display, as apposed to printing out on paper.

Those pics have loaded a bit more now before they stopped again. Maybe it was the orange juice I just had. It revved me up and now my computer is revved up too! |

Welcome to the forum. It's fun to revisit old collections. Searching ebay is a good way to get a feel for the market. You may find this lot interesting as it has several of your stamps and it's also displayed on stock pages. You can look up your stamps using Scott Catalogues often found at the library. http://cgi.ebay.com/9-Pages-of-Aust...-2_W0QQitemZ290401103217QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_2?hash=item439d412d71 |

Hi rod222, the 90kb limit also got me confused at one point. Best to upload pics using the jpeg format or even the faster internet file formats when you've practiced and gotten the hang of it. a pic in .bmp format could be in 250kb and won't upload here, however, convert the same to .jpeg format and it's kb size goes down to less than 90kb, then you can upload quite easyly the same pic. or... it can be resized, down to below 90kb, using the windows photo programme that comes with the windows microsoft office software in short, the same pic's byte size varies with the file extension format you use on it hope that helps |

G'day nic, I have always used *.jpg but the forum rejects any scan over 90Kb. I resize all mine via ACDSee to 90Kb The "internet file format" I do not understand I can post links to scans up to 2Mb but the server only maintains them for 2 weeks, so I feel it better to have them here at 90Kb. Thanks for letting us know though.

OK thanks for that tip Steve, one has to keep in mind to renew photobucket every three months (I think) or they assume the a/c dead and remove scans.
