I came across this lone stamp in my stack of unsorted stamps. I tried looking in Scotts, and did find similar/same stamp but the denominations were different. None that looked like this were 1d. Am I missing something?

Stampdog

Issue year is 1912.
The SG number is 132a, cat 20p.
Just look in Scotts under 1912 and you'll find it....I hope.

Londonbus1....fingers crossed

I would like to point out though, sadly, that it is very toned and probably good only for the barby !

Thanks, but I just don't see the value 1d. Is there some magic reference I'm missing. And if I go to Scotts #132, it show it as a 9p dk violet & black stamp, years 1921-27. Maybe I'm tired and need to take a break?????

And yes,it's a bit faded, but I have seen worse

Check Scott #123 violet, 1921

...what does everyone think? Die II? I think so. If it is die I, then it is 123a.

Based on my 2008 Scott Catalogue, I'm guessing Scott #123 Violet 1 denarius (pence)

Yeah, thanks Scott's. d vs. p is one of those catalogue idiosyncrasies that you just have to know, 'cuz it doesn't make any sense. It would take Scott's all of a couple hours to "find and replace" p for d by era.

Hardly!

Do you have a ready reference for this kind of useless trivia that you'd be willing to share?
