Yes tina Iam very interested as well. Maybe the paper makers mark. Some sort of security mark or the beginning or end of paper roll. Just guessing. Iam also waiting for a proper answer. KGV
Rod I believe a tied reply. |

Yes Tina definitely the selvage has bent over and probably stuck to the back of the stamp. Collectors do this, they do not want to remove the selvage, so they bend it over, and the glues adhere with the slightest change in temp.
If one were to soak them, you would see the selvage separate.
What you do, if they are indeed stuck is your decision. Probably the best to sell as is, and advise the purchaser. What do other members think? The only other possibility is to place them in a sweat box perhaps.

tina thanks for posting larger image. Yes I would leave them as is and describe them as they are seen. Give the next owner the decision.
Great call Rod! |

Tina, hi, maybe pop them in the freezer for a bit. This sometimes un-sticks stamps stuck to each other in a pile. Not sure how it would un-stick a stamp from itself though. Won't hurt to try though. |

Yes, I see it. Is possible that the edge of the sheet folded over after printing. Check the thickness of the one in question. It is possible that it was printed as a security feature or a waste sheet of paper was used. But, I think you will find that it is as a result of a post printing paper fold, before perforation. |

Just looking at the colour of the back of the wavey-lined one compared to the dark and then straight-line and then wavey line on the other, the more fully lined one perhaps has as it's back a whole piece of extra paper that was, as revstampman suggested, gummed, then folded over and then perforated so it looks like it's supposed to be there.
An interesting oddity indeed. Perhaps show a scan of the two backs and point it out in your listing. Call it a varietu in your listing title so people who are interested in such things can find it while searching and then judge for themselves.
I think the lighter colour is a give-a-way. I didn't notice at first, sorry Tina.
Second opinion, don't pop them in the freezer. They could be worth more to someone the way they are.
