There are no lines in the white around the upper corner triangles.

You are correct....it is a #252 with a precancel.

Tonya, Sorry to send you in another direction. But Scott's 252 was never used for a precancel for Lynn, MA. Since it is a Lynn, MA precancel type L-2 cross-referencing would make this 279B.

By all means, thank you for letting me know. Where did you cross reference it at? I have a ton of precancels so that would help me a lot.

I have a few old precancel catalogs, but this detail I took from the "Catalogue of the Printed Precancels of the United States", by Bruce Brunell, 2006, 2nd Edition.
I've been a member on the "Precancel Stamp Society" [PSS], not currently, but I can asset you with your precancel items questions.
