Sept. 25, 1865 Mourning Cover for President Lincoln, postmarked Fort Edward, New York.



Here is a close up of the portrait:



I didn't get into too much trouble bringing this home from the stamp show today.

I noticed that the stamp was upside down; it seems it was placed with care so one can assume it was done on purpose. What a symbol of mourning from almost 150 years ago.
