Hi, My name is Christopher and as you can guess I am new at this. I have checked out what other members have talked about and looked at alot of their different stamps they have posted. In conclussion I am impressed with alot of the Community. Knowledge of what people have is important to me I have learned a great deal more than just looking at different websites. At this time I do not have a scanner to send anyone or everyone any pictures I would have of my cinderellas or stamps. My I do hope to still be able to talk to the community about what they have. I am one of a many who collect worldwide and U.S. stamps. Most of My collection are at or before 1970's. I prefer most of the early days of before 1960's. The reason being is the art work then was a lot more intricate then today. Not that I don't enjoy todays stamps it just is not the same. Most of todays stamps are either a photo or a fast drawing for the public to have asap. But in the past the stamps were a creation of style. I do understand that it might cost more to create the stamps like our forefathers did But would it not be worth the money we now spend for collection to grow to have something to be impressed with. Sorry if I have bored you with my rattle. And Yes I do have a lot of older cinderellas in my collection. Thanks for your time Christopher.

Your rattle is not boring, Christopher! I agree with you 100% on the comparison of modern and older stamp designs. My favorite are the engraved issues.

At the libraries near me they have a scanner in the library that a person can book (once you know which computer it is hooked to, and use for free.

I haven't actually used one yet (I have one at home) but I was planning on it. It is always good to have a plan B. You need a USB thumb drive or flash drive or whatever they call the things also to carry away your work so you can edit and crop etc at home. Don't forget your thumb drive! I've found other people's there at the libraries (and handed them in!). Hard to plus your own in when someone else's is in the way.

I agree with you Christopher, I also enjoy the artwork of the older stamps. I think the monochromatic-colored stamps from earlier decades, 30's, 40's, 50's are just magificent.

I don't know what the term is for many of the older stamps, but you could actually "feel" the texture of these stamps.

While I like the "colorful" stamps the U.S. has available today they just aren't the same as the stamps of yesteryear!

TLC, I think the term you are looking for is "engraved" for the texture and feel of an older stamp.
